The Dream Catcher was a personal charm or fetish, bestowing its medicine on its owner while he slept by catching bad dreams in its webbing and letting the pleasant dreams through to him. Originally woven with deer sinew on a willow hoop adorned with beads and feathers the dream catcher hung in the lodge, to the East, awaiting the morning sun, which would burn off all the bad dreams that had been captured in its web during the hours of darkness.
This finely crafted non-Native American commercial dream catcher is woven from natural fibers and decorated with beads, feathers and arrowheads.

An old Plains Indian legend says that dream catchers were hung in lodges and teepees to assure peaceful dreams.
